Prolific horror writer Steven King says Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer “can’t write worth a darn . . . She’s not very good.”
Why, then, are her books so popular? King “speculated that Twilighters simply aren't yet ready for a depiction of real, adult romance.”

Well, apparantly, he doesn't know what he is talking about! HA!
I haven't read the Twilight books, but when I read King's comments I thought he probably ought to be much more afraid of being attacked by faithful Twilight readers than ghosts and goblins!
I kind of had mixed reaction to King's words. I just finished the Twilight series, and while they were pretty good, I can see where the criticism comes from, even though it WAS a big harsh. Yes, I think JK Rowling is a much better writer and think the Harry Potter books are on a whole different level, but Meyer must have something to not only suck in not only bazillions of readers, (and not just teen girls...I witnessed a middle-aged burly construction-worker dude reading the last book in the doc's office the other day), but myself as well! I think King may be getting just a bit big for his britches...probably won't stop me from reading his books, though.
